Sniff. Sniff.

I lost my Great Grandmother today. Not everyone can say that they had 33 years with their great grandmother. She was 94 years old...

I remember when my great, great grandmother died. I was 10 years old... and I am so amazingly blessed to come from these remarkable women.

The most amazing thing about my Great Grandmother, Mary Farris, is that for over 40 years she took care of my great uncle, Jim, her son, who was a quadrapaledric. I would watch this "70 plus" year old women pull Jim out of bed... wash him, turn him, and lift him into his wheel chair... she was absolutely amazing, loving and dedicated to Jim and her family.

She made the best burgers... to this day nobody can make them like her. I watched her one day... (I swear she must use a secret ingredient in there somewhere...) but all I saw her use was plain ole' hamburger meat!! LOL! I don't know how she did it. Oh, and her dumplings! YUM! Grandma was known for her food and her laughter.

I am hoping that I'll be able to fly out to Indianapolis for her funeral... but don't you know it.... my husband is out of town this next week for work. So, I would have to pull in some big favors with my mom and sisters in order to go. (somebody has to watch the kiddos) Still waiting to hear what day the funeral will be held on. I hope I can go.

I'm sorry for your loss. Try to focus on the fact that she was in your life for so long - that is a true gift.

I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you can make the funeral, but even if you can't, she'll know that you wanted to.
