Stupid Migraine!

What do you think? I need some help...

I rarely ever had a migraine... maybe 6 in my entire life. Up until my Lap-band surgery.

This is my 4th migraine since surgery.... and they all have made their appearance two days after "Aunt Flo" has visited.

Went and had my eyes checked.. I have perfect vision. So now I am debating on what kind of Doctor to see next. Any suggestions?

CAN I BE FIXED??? I hope so!

Uh, Oh! I have a personal trainer...

Have you ever felt suckered (or guilt-ed) into making a purchase?

ahhh.. this is just another of my many "sucker" purchases. Not a real bad purchase (actually one of my better ones) but probably not prudent. ; )

I've been wanting to see a personal trainer at my gym but they wanted $60.00 an hour. On our family budget that was a little steep, so, they have an option where if you double up with someone they will just charge you $30.00 per hour and you'll get trained together.

SOOO... I went in this evening to meet a gal who also wanted to do a double training session. We talked with the trainer about pricing and frequency, we decided on once a week for 1 hour for 6 weeks. Then, the gal says that she would really rather do 2 sessions a week for 6 weeks. (which of course doubles the price) I wasn't really prepared to commit to $60.00 a week for six weeks but what can I say... I AM A 33 YEAR OLD STILL DEALING WITH PEER PRESSURE! And I walked away with a twice a week, six week commitment. (MAYBE SHE WAS A PLANT?) LOL!

Yep, I am $360.00 poorer, but hopefully I'll be more than $360.00 healthier when my six weeks is over!

My husband is on a business trip and I was afraid of his reaction... but dang it, he is so amazingly supportive! No anger at all. Oh how I love that man! Anyways... overall this will be good for me. (I just wasn't prepared to make this financial commitment at this exact moment.)

Happy personal training to me! I start on Thursday!!! --Heather

Shopping! NSV!

So yesterday, I walked into Old Navy, picked out a large and and a few extra large shirts... took them home and tried them on. ANNNNDDD they FIT!! The large is a little snug but I wanted it as a undershirt so it works perfect. (the XL fit great if not a little loose)

This is coming from a girl who used to wear a 3x from Old Navy and who had to do all her ordering online (once they took out the plus sizes from the stores). I can't tell you how great this feels!!! It's amazing! One of my first noticeable NSV! (non scale victories)

Just had to share! The next step, will be to get my booty down in size, so that I can quit ordering bottoms online. : )

Post-Surgery and Today!

So there you have it! I hate the booty shots... that is where I carry all my weight. Blah!

It took me a moment to see a difference but once I looked at the pictures a bit a later on I could see it. You would think that 40lbs would make a bigger difference. I bet the next 40lbs will be HUGE! : )

So there you have it!

It's moments like this... when I ask myself, why in the world, am I putting this all out there, for all to see. UGH! Feeling a bit vulnerable at this moment. sigh.

Status Update - 40 lbs - Oh Yeah Baby!

I did it!!! Woot! Woot!

Summer Fun - What a mess!

He is going "to town" on his snow cone.

He wears his battle wounds proudly! For all to see!
(and for about 2 days.. that stuff stains)

Not a drop left! Often, by watching my kids, I am reminded to enjoy the simple moments of life. I know he is a mess... but man, oh, man, he enjoyed that snow cone. Happy first day of Summer!!

Enjoy the moments.

Since it's BBQ and bratwurst season, I thought I would share... (see package above) ONLY 110 calories!

Sniff. Sniff.

I lost my Great Grandmother today. Not everyone can say that they had 33 years with their great grandmother. She was 94 years old...

I remember when my great, great grandmother died. I was 10 years old... and I am so amazingly blessed to come from these remarkable women.

The most amazing thing about my Great Grandmother, Mary Farris, is that for over 40 years she took care of my great uncle, Jim, her son, who was a quadrapaledric. I would watch this "70 plus" year old women pull Jim out of bed... wash him, turn him, and lift him into his wheel chair... she was absolutely amazing, loving and dedicated to Jim and her family.

She made the best burgers... to this day nobody can make them like her. I watched her one day... (I swear she must use a secret ingredient in there somewhere...) but all I saw her use was plain ole' hamburger meat!! LOL! I don't know how she did it. Oh, and her dumplings! YUM! Grandma was known for her food and her laughter.

I am hoping that I'll be able to fly out to Indianapolis for her funeral... but don't you know it.... my husband is out of town this next week for work. So, I would have to pull in some big favors with my mom and sisters in order to go. (somebody has to watch the kiddos) Still waiting to hear what day the funeral will be held on. I hope I can go.

My grandmother and me - Bandster Buddies

This is my grandmother Shirley, she is also a fellow Bandster. Her band was placed about 9 years ago, but not for weight loss purposes.... she got hers because of severe acid reflux. She has lost weight, but she hasn't gone all "die hard" on her weight loss, she hasn't had a fill in over a year. (she says she doesn't want to have saggy skin... so she is taking it slow)

I knew that she had been banded but never thought much of it. I remember sitting at dinner with her and she would sometimes start to eat and then quit because she ate too fast... interestingly enough, I never thought much about her having a band. It was a foreign concept to me.

Here we are 9 years later and I know ALL about that band device she had installed. LOL! It was fun over Memorial Day to compare notes.

It's not everyone who gets to share this journey with their Grandmother!

I'm so excited...

I have a friend who is a storybook artist and I have arranged for her to draw my Blog header... I am SO freakin excited!! It should be up in the next few weeks... this girl is an absolutely killer artist and I can't wait to see what she does with it. The idea is simple... but just you wait and see. (she is CRAZY good)

The 80's song is buzzing around in my head right now ** I'm so excited, I just can't hide it, I'm about to lose control and I think I like it....**

Fiber...

I don't think I am getting enough fiber these days so I thought I would check out Benefiber... all I have to say is "this is NOT your grandmother's fiber supplement"

It actually tastes good... (kinda like Tang) and where is the gritty flavor?? Sooooo, not what I was expecting! Just passing on a good thing...

OUCH!

I am paying the price of that Boot Camp class yesterday...
My thighs are HURT'IN!!
AND I MEAN HURT'IN BAAADDDDD!

At church today I went to use the bathroom and decided on the handicap stall because the toilet was higher. LOL! My hubby asked why I would do this to myself... I said, "Because I had to start somewhere... next week it won't hurt like this"

I'm glad I went and I'll force myself to go and do 30 min on the elliptical tomorrow. But no lunging or squatting... OUCH!

Boot Camp!

I did it! I am back in the game! Oh Yeah!!!!!

I almost didn't go this morning... I started to talk myself out of it. Like, maybe I shouldn't be trying something so hard right now... maybe I should give myself a few more weeks of working out before attempting it... but Boot Camp won out... I DID IT!

It was great! Sure, I couldn't keep up with some of the gals. If they did full lunges and squats I did half way lunges and squats. They did push ups on their toes, I was on my knees. If they used 15lbs and 8 lbs. I used 10lbs and 3 lb weights. I didn't care!!

The class was great. I loved it because when I am working out by myself I don't breath very heavy for long periods or even sweat that much... but this morning, I was out of breath and sweating like a pig! Bring it on, baby!

I may not be able to move tomorrow... but I made it to Boot Camp! OH YEAH! GO ME!!!

Good day

Mrs. Band behaved herself today.
I had a perfect banded day...

I have 4 cc in my 10 cc band and this last week I wondered if I was too tight at times. I haven't thrown up or had any reflux so I think I am good... but holy cow some days it is just tougher to eat than other days. My newest trick is hiccupping when I start to eat... WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?

Wish I had a personal guide book to being banded but each of us is sooooo different. I am just going to have to take it a fill at a time. : )

Hoping tomorrow goes as smoothly as today, it was so nice to be able to eat without all the extra excitement.

P.S. Wish me luck! I am going to lug this booty of mine to a BOOT CAMP class tomorrow morning. Haven't been to a class like that for about 8 months. I hope I survive.

Lesson - Calories

What I didn't understand pre-band...

Is that even with the the band I would need to watch my calorie intake. All food has calories and if you take in to many calories you will NOT lose weight. DUH! Sounds simple enough... but with a life full of over eating, I apparently never REALLY thought about it that seriously.

Now that my entire eating pattern is based on losing weight I can really understand what I have heard for years. Calories do count!

The good news is that with the Band I do not feel near as obsessive about food and the concept of Food = Fuel is actually FINALLY sinking in. Plus I am getting full on about 1 cup of food... that right there is an amazing thing.

With the right tool (my lap band), the impossible becomes possible.

STATUS UPDATE 6/10/10

It's only prudent that I give a status update after my vacation.

313/279/180

Pre-Op Weight/Current Weight/Goal Weight

DOWN 34 lbs!!!!!!!!

My goal was to get to 280lbs before I left on vacation. Made that goal and lost 1 lb during vacation which is amazing after all the "junk" food I was able to sneak in. Going to the gym today and getting back on track... Looking forward to my next goal of 40lbs lost!

Oh, it's good to be

Oh, it's good to be home! Flying with a tired two year = no fun! I need a nap.

Dang! I was hoping that

Dang! I was hoping that my booty would fit in the airplane seat better after 33lbs lost. sigh. I still have a long ways to go.

Just had my 1st full

Just had my 1st full body scan at the airport. G-U-L-P!

Sometimes, I am so much

Sometimes, I am so much tighter then other times. Trying to eat but everything had a tougher time going down than normal. :(

Pot roast, just doesn't taste

Pot roast, just doesn't taste the same once it is chewed 30 times. Just a random thought... (I am eating lunch right now)

Trying something new...

Texting this from my phone, somewhere on I-40 between Amarillo, TX and Oklahoma City, OK. We have had a great visit with family and are almost done with our vacation. :( I have actually gotten use to the heat... (does 90 degrees and 100 degrees feel much different?) lol.
Mrs. Band has been a great friend this last week... she has even been willing to take a little abuse. THREE Bahama Mama Rama's from Bahama Bucks in three days is NOT good. (but this was a one time good deal, it wont happen again in a looonnnggggg time... it was fun, thanks Erin.....)
I've promised my body that there will be no more abuse the rest of this vacation. ;)
On a good note: I have been maintaining my 1 cup of food per meal and have been staying full. I am excited to see how things go, once I am back home and I have more control of my eating habits.

Well... lets see if this works! Happy Monday!

Family Vacation - Oklahoma & Texas

How do all you southern state people survive??? I am burning up here in Oklahoma! It was only 57 degrees when I left town!! We got off the plane and WHAMMY! the heat hit! Oh my gosh... I am dying!

I was wearing a light jacket yesterday! lol! And, I was TOTALLY unprepared for this heat and humidity! BLAHHHH......

Don't think I'll be able to post much, we are staying with my husband's grandparents and they only have dial up and a REALLY, REALLY old computer. Playing around on the internet is almost impossible... (but I am making it work for the moment) Maybe I'll be able to get my mobile blogging up and going. We will see.... hmmmm...

We had a great flight with the kiddos... a plane trip is competely different when seen through thier eyes. I sure love being a mom and having these fun moments with my boys.

I was kinda concerned about my band. I had heard, that some bandsters struggle when flying (thier band get's tighter after a flight - due to swelling). I was really worried because my restriciton was already pretty tight but I haven't had a probelm and I don't feel any different. YEAH!

On a negative note: I had a migraine today and yesterday...what is up with that?!? I really need to see a doctor when I get back to town, having this many migraines is pretty ridiculous (sp?). Hoping tomorrow is a better day!

We will be in Oklahoma until Friday and then we are heading to the panhandle of Texas... where the weather channel shows it is going to be 104 degrees..... I think, I just might melt!
